prenatal massage therapy

Pregnancy can be a wonderful and magical time, it can also be a period that is challenging on many levels.  Finding ways to stay present to the experience is important and vital to you and the child growing within you.  Prenatal massage sessions are a way in that can address your physical state (i.e. possible lower back, shoulder & neck pain, a sense of connection to your changing body, etc.), as well as the beginning of your relationship with your baby.

In these sessions, we begin with a short discussion addressing what is going on for you right now physically, as well as mentally and emotionally. All aspects of your life play into what you are experiencing in your body.  Identifying what is stressful for you at the moment can help soften any physical holding and allow you to relax more deeply during the session. I employ the same techniques I use for other massage therapy sessions, with allowances for the pregnancy and for your changing needs.  I have an electric table that lowers to make it easy to get onto the table. I also have an adjustable-cushion system which allows you to lie comfortably and safely on your stomach and back for the duration of your pregnancy.

As a mother myself, I feel inspired to be a resource to new and expectant mothers.  If you are a first time pregnant mom-to-be, I encourage you to gather a compassionate, knowledgeable, and loving community to surround and support you as you begin this beautiful and life-changing journey of motherhood.
