babies & children
Being born is a tremendous physical experience. Even in the best scenarios, tensions can be created in the newborn’s body that they may not be able to process or let go of easily. These tensions, if not released, can lead to challenges in health and development for the child.
This is where Craniosacral Therapy (CST) can be invaluable. It is an assessment tool, as well as a corrective and preventative treatment. Newborn CST sessions can minimize or eliminate repercussions of the birth experience and help insure good health for well babies.
As a gentle, hands-on technique, CST can facilitate subtle shifts in the different tissues of the body. These shifts manifest as a softening and releasing of tension, a realigning of structure, and a freeing of compression.
During a typical session, the child rests on the massage table or parent’s lap. I assess the craniosacral rhythm and the quality of the tissues with my hands and use gentle techniques to help the child’s system correct sources of pain and dysfunction. Emotional releases can also occur during a treatment. As healing occurs in these sessions, I hold a gentle, compassionate space for the child – and for the parents – to release the held experience. CST sets the stage for the body to most efficiently use its own power to heal.
